Challenge

Week 4- Challenge

OBJECTIVE: To create 1D elements on the following componenet with given cross-section and DOF.

Procedure:

  1. To import the model from Import Solver Deck/Import geomentry/choose the file/click import. The model is imported.
  2. Then have to create a midsurface by selecting the midsurface option from geomentry and select any one half of the bracket and extract.
  3. Then select Features tree/Rename the middle surface as bracket 1 and change its colour and then create a component and change the name as bracket 2.
  4. Follow the same procedure to create midsurface on the other side of the bracket.
  5. Then use Tool/Organize/Surfs/select the above created midsurface/Move.
  6. Delete the components of the both the brackets.
  7. Create a material.Use Entities/Create/Material/Steel.
  8. Now create property for both the midsurface and name it as bracket 1 and bracket 2.
  9. Assign the corresponding property to the components.
  10. Now do the autocleanup.
  11. Create a washer split of offset value 5mm and split those circular areas.
  12. Lets now mesh and assign element size as 5.
  13. Now lets create 1D elements.
  14. 1D/Rigids/Multiple nodes/calculate nodes/by path/Check dof 1,2 and 3/Create nodes around the circular Areas A.
  15. 1D/rbe3/Check all dof/nodes/by path/create nodes in the area B.
  16. 1D/rbe3/check dof 1 and 2/nodes/by path/create nodes around the circular area C.
  17. 1D/rigids/Multiple nodes/Calculate nodes/by path/Check dof 3/Create nodes around the circular area D and E.
  18. Now create a standard sections Box,I and Cross section.
  19. 1D/Hyper Beam/Standard section/Standard I section/Create/Enter the dimensions given for beam element and rename the section as BEAM.
  20. Create/Standard section/Optistruct/CROSS/Enter the dimensions given for bAR element and rename the section as BAR.
  21. Create/Hyperbeam/Standard section/BOX/Enter the dimensions given for element and rename the section as ROD.
  22. In the feature tree, create a property and name it as beam.Change the card image to PBEAM and select material as steel and choose beam section/BEAM.
  23. In the feature tree, create a property and name it as bar.Change the card image to PBAR and select material as steel and choose beam section/BAR.
  24. In the feature tree, create a property and name it as rod.Change the card image to PROD and select material as steel and choose beam section/ROD.
  25. Now lets create CROD,CBEAM and CBAR elements.
  26. 1D/rods/elem types as CROD/property as ROD/Select the nodes in region A.
  27. 1D/bars/elem types as CBEAM/property as BEAM/select the nodes in the region B.
  28. 1D/bars/elem types as CBAR/Property as BAR/Select the nodes in the region C.
  29. Now lets create a MASS of magnitude 10 in region D and E.
  30. 1D/masses/MASS=10/elem types as CMASS!/Select the nodes in the region E and D.
  31. Lets create spring elements in the region F.
  32. 1D/springs/elem types as CELAS1/Select the corner nodes on both side of the F region.

TOOLS USED:-

  • Bars
  • Rods
  • Rigids
  • Rbe3
  • Springs
  • Masses
  • Hyperbeam
  • Organize
  • Midsurface
  • Quick edit
  • Autocleanup

RESULT:

The elements BAR ROD BEAM and Spring elements are created in the given component with the mentioned cross sections and DOFs using midsurface and meshing option.
