Week-4 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder CI-Engine
Summary (SI Vs CI):
1.Compression ratio of SI engine is 9.5 and CI engine is 16.5
2.BSFC of SI engine is 239.2 g/kW-h and CI engine is 221.3 at 1800 rpm, i.e. CI engine is highly efficient
3.Exhaust temperature of SI engine is 1147 and CI engine is 1045. CI engine exhaust temp. is less compared to SI engine
4.A/F ratio of SI engine is 14.5 and CI engine is 19.18, i.e. CI engine works on leaner mixture
5.BMEP of SI engine is 9.5 and CI engine is 16.6, i.e. CI engine working pressures are high compared to SI engine
6.NOx is higher in CI engine compared to SI engine whereas HC, CO & CO2 are high in SI engine
Summary (Impact of MFB 50 on 6 Cyl DI engine):
1.MD-20 gives better fuel consumption compared to MD-33
2.Exhaust temperatures are less by 51 K in MD-20
3.Volumetric efficiency is reduced by 14 % in MD-20
4.Maximum temperature increased by 197 K in MD-20
5.NOx and HC are reduced in MD-20, however CO and CO2 are increased
