Week - 4

1. The wahing machine is usually used to Soak, Wash, Rinse and Dry the clothes. This again is based on the amount of dirt on the clothes and the sturdiness of the stain. Therefore, the automatic washing machine process is to determine, the amount of clothes in the washing machine and the type of clothes can be seleted by the user. Based on all the required input from the user, the machine now dertermines which all process has to be done, in which order and for how long.

  • In our case, we try to check if the power supply is ON or OFF. If the Power supply is in ON condition, then we proceed to check the water supply. if the power is not supplied, then entire machine stops working, this can be witnessed by making the input (constant block) from 1 to 0.
  • If the water supply is detected then we move to the 'regular washing cycle'. if not then the machine stops. This can be seen by making the input of the water supply as '0'.
  • Once it enters the 'regular washing cycle', 1st it encounters soaking --> Which should be of 200s (Where all the clothes are soaked in the detergent and hot water based on user preference).
  • Followed by washing the clothes --> this is done for 100s (Clothes are washed, the speed of rotation/revolution of the drum is based on the amount of dirt and the type of the clothes)
  • Now, rinsing occurs --> this is done for 20s (To remove excess detergent from the clothes)
  • Finally drying --> this is done for 50s (To remove all the water content from the dress, by supplying hot air into the drum).

All this are done in the simulink using 'chart' (which follows the state flow)

2. This is done using Simulink to witness the gear change according to the speed of the vehicle. Every vehicle has a range of speed and the gear transmission according to the engine capacity and the running conditon of the car and so on. Here in the question it is given that for a particular speed the should be in that corresponding level.

  • Therefore using the stateflow, we can build this transmission, like if the speed (which is the input) is equal to or lower than 15 then it remains in the 1st gear.
  • if the speed (which is the input) is above 16 and equal to or lower than 25 then it remains in the 2nd gear.
  • if the speed (which is the input) is above 25 and equal to or lower than 40 then it remains in the 3rd gear.
  • if the speed (which is the input) is above 40 and equal to or lower than 60 then it remains in the 4th gear.
  • if the speed (which is the input) is above 60 then it remains in the 5th gear.

To witness the corresponding changes, we can add the slider gain which can be changed and we can see how the output changes while we move around the input with slider gain.
