Week - 4
Assignment-1(Week-4)
AIM-1
Implementing the control logic of a washing machine using Stateflow
- If the power supply is available, the system gets activated
- If the Water supply is not available, stop the process & indicate through LED
- Soaking time should be 200s followed by Washing time of 100s.
- Then rinsing happens for next 20s & dryer runs for 50s
After all the processes have completed turn on the finished LED.
Introduction:
Stateflow can be best explained as a graphical representation of a machine consisting of states, transitions, and conditions. A stateflow chart can be created to define how a MATLAB or a SIMULINK model reacts to external input signals, events, and time-based conditions.
A washing machine has several processes to run, step by step. For instance:
- Checking if the power is on Checking if there is sufficient supply of water for the entire wash
- If the above two are true, soak the clothes in water to prepare for washing
- Wash for a certain period
- Rinse for a certain period
- Dry the clothes for a certain period
Although many more complicated conditions are there in running the washing machine, the above is a very simple representation to give insight into the logical flow of the machine.
Below is a stateflow chart to indicate the procedures:
PROCEDURE
- Water available but Power off
- Only power on
- Power and water not available.
- Soaking
- Washing
- Rinsing
- Drying
- Finished

Assignment-2(Week-4)
AIM-2
Make a Simulink chart for the “Gear shift” logic as per below conditions:
Speed Range(kmph) Gear
0 to 15 1
16 to 25 2
26 to 40 3
41 to 60 4
Above 61 5
Give speed input while the simulation is running & display the gear number.
.
The entire setup looks like this:
(i)Engine start but speed zero.
(ii)Engine start (speed>0 &speed<15).
(iii)Engine start (speed>26 &speed<40).
(iii)Engine start (speed>41 &speed<60).
(iii)Engine start (speed>61).
