Week 4-1D Element Creation Challenge

AIM:

mesh the given componant with the size of 5 units. create 1D element on the following componant with given cross section and DOF.

A. ROD ELEMENT: translational DOF should be constrained with RBE2 link.

cross-section: BOX- dimension a=12 mm

dimension b= 10mm

thickness t = 0.75 mm

B. BEAM ELEMENT: all dof should be constarined with RBE3 link.

cross- section : I section- dimension a=8mm

dimension b= 10mm

dimension c=10mm

thickness t1= 0.75mm

thickness t2= 0.6mm

thickness t3= 0.6mm

C.BAR ELEMENT: constarin only x and y DOFs with RBE3 link.

cross-section: X sextion- dimension dim1=5mm

thickness dim2= 1.2mm

dimension dim3 = 10mm

thickness dim4 = 1.2m

D&E. apply the mass of magnitude 10 with the RBE 2 link.

f. join the two componant of the spring element.

DESCRIPTION:

1) 1D element are used for modeling line-type member such as coloumn , pipes, beams, rod bars .

2) 2d element are commonly used for plane type members, such as plate membrane thin membrane and thin shells such as wall slabs, sheetmetal plastic componant.

ROD:

1) rods are used rigid element . it is used for tensile and compressive loading applications.

2) Ex- solid circle

3) applications: tension/compression membres (truss) , shaft subjected to torque.

BARS:

1) these element allow be bendimg with along with tension and compression . it is used for symetrical section . all 6 degree of freedom (DOF) will be used .

2)EX: solid circle.

3) applications: shaft subjected to multi axial loading , bolted / welded joints.

BEAM:

1) it is similar to bar elements, but is also used for asymeyrical section as well these elements are mainly used to more complicated geometry and varying cross section

2) EX: any section

3) appication: same as bar and an asymmetric cross sections.

PROCEDURE-

import the model by using geometry option in the form of IGES format.

go to the geometry-> mid surface -> select componant and extract.

the mid surface need to be moved using-> organise and -> move.

as the thoickness of the given componant, the mid surface is taken for the whole model.

then we assign the material as steel and properties to the mid surface componant in the model browser.

give a washer split in to from quick edit in 5 mm thickness. once mateial and properties are assigned we, are meshing the componant, by using automesh option in 2D and target element length should be 5mm. then adjust the nodes.

we create RBE2 And RBE3 elements using rigids and RBE3 in 1D module for holes.

then we create cross section for rod,bar and beam.

we create section for the rod int he form of the box has been given for the first case rods are used for tension and compression.

cross-section BOX:

dimension a=12mm

thickness b = 10mm

thickness y= 0.75 mm

we create section from the beam in the form of i section which has been given for the second case. hyper beam is used to create beam in cross sections.

cross-sections - dimension a= 8mm

dimension b = 10mm

dimension c= 8.5,mm

dimension t1=0.75mm

dimension t2=0.6mm

dimension t3=0.6mm

we create a cross section fo the bar in the form of cross section which has been given for the third case. bar used for symmetrical section and 6DOFs is used +

cross section : x section- dimension dim1 = 5mm

thickness dim2 = 1.2mm

dimension dim3 = 10mm

thickness dim4 = 1.2mm

once section are connected we need to create a property for rod, beam, with property card such as PROD,PBEAM,PBAR.

mass is applied with the magnitude 10 in RBE2 and spring element are joined as been mensioned.

RESULT-

mid-surface is taken for the given geometry and material properties has been assigned. later we have meshed the componants and hole has been connected with RBE2 and RBE3 element then we created CROD,CBEAM,PBAR 1D element with their dof con starined according to ythe data has been menstioned . then we created cross section for the rod, beam, & property card has been assigned for PROD, PBEAM,PBAR. The mass has been applied with the magnitude of 10 RBE2 & spring element are joined.
