Week 4-1D Element Creation Challenge

Objectives:-

• Mesh the Given component with the Size of 5 Units
• Create 1D elements on the following component with given cross-section and DOF

Mid Surfacing:-

1. Create hollow geometry by extracting surface from the solid geametry
2. Delete the solid
3. Create mid-surface

Meshing

1. Create 2D mesh using automesh command with element size as 5 units
2. Craete Washer Split at holes.

Creating 1D Elements

Rod element:

Create RBE2 with translational DOF should be Constrained with RBE2 link

Create cross-section

Create a property Card and apply Cross-section to it.

Now create ROD element by joining two RBE2 and apply property

We can view rod element in 1D Detailed Element Representation

Similarly, We can do for Bar and Beam element.

Create RBE2 and apply mass at its node.

Create spring element at corner

So, final model will be
