Week 3 Challenge : CFD meshing on Turbocharger

Ansa Challenge – 3 CFD mashing on turbo charger

Turbo charger is used in automobile, where exhaust energy from engine is used for creating more suction inside intake manifold of the engine.

Geometry Checks: Before doing meshing activity, geometry checks are done for checking any single coons & triple coons in the object.

For checking any over lapped surfaces, we can do this with the ‘TOPO’ option, after selecting the surfaces.

First Step: Delete all the over lapped surfaces, which is not required. With the help of the ‘Delete’ option. Select the unwanted surfaces, by selecting the surface by selecting the surface from the cross edge. By selecting the ‘PID region’.

Second Step: After deleting all the unwanted surfaces, all the open surfaces need to be covered with the help of the ‘Coon’ option with enabling ‘Loop’ option. Select the ‘single coons’ and create surfaces.

Third Step: When there is some single coons, which are unsymmetrical in nature, where we have to create the surface by dividing the surfaces, with the help by creating ‘Hot points’ at the projected surface. After creating the hot point at the projected surface, we will cover the open area part by part.

Forth Step: We have found a intersect surface, so we need to delete that surface. For deleting this surface, we need to ‘intersects’ both the surfaces after using ‘intersection’ command in the faces option. After intersecting both the surface, delete all the surface.

Fifth Step: After deleting the overlapped surface, if there is still showing ‘triple coons. First, we need to check the weather there is any surface behind the front surface. To check that thing, we need to hide the surface after hiding the surface if there is any surface left behind, then delete the surface. If not ‘release’ the coons and then perform ‘TOPO’ to resolve the ‘tiple coons’.

Sixth Step: For creating any ‘hot point’ at any coons surface. Use the option in the “Hot Point” section ‘Para metric’ and select the required coons where the hot point is required.

Before meshing all the single coons are eliminated. By creating new surface, where it is required.

All the surface patches were covered, with the different options using for creating surfaces.

Existing Surface: This command is used to fill the openings in any existing surface.

Planner:

Fitted: This command is used to fill the irregular holes. In entity mode fitted command is used.

Coons: Coons is used to fill the holes in a one shot.

Fill holes: Fill holes is one another command, that is used to fill the gaps inside a body surface.
