WEEK 3 CHALLENGE ASSIGNMENT

Aim: Check for the geometrical errors and mesh with the given element Quality criteria and

assign thickness after meshing the given component.

Given component:

Procedure:

1. Assign Material and properties to component.(lists<properties ,lists<material)
2. Topo Module

• Orient the component.
• Use geometry check to check for cracks, single cons, sharp edges etc.

3.Extracting middle surface

• Faces>midsurface(midsurface option can be used for closed volume)

3.Mesh module

• Utilities>quality criteria.
• Utilities>mesh parameter
• Perimeter>length=5
• Mesh Generation>best

• mesh quality can be improved by using reconstructing mesh.
• number of trianular elements can be reduced by swap,join,spliting the elements.

final FE model:

Learning Outcomes:

• To understand use of various cammands in ANSA.
• To correct geometrical errors .
• To extract mid surface
• To mesh with given quality criteria and improve quality of mesh.
• To assign thickness to meshed parts

Conclusion:

The model is meshed and FE model is generated.
