Week 3
AIM:
Check for the geometrical errors and mesh with the given element Quality criteria of the Hood of a car.
PROCEDURE:
1. Open the file.
2. Did Topology from Faces menu.
3. Took measurements of each components.
4. Execute Geometry Checks.
5. Found Errors, Right click and try to fix the errors.
6. Remaining triple cons are fixed manually using Release and Paste from Cons menu.
7. After fixing all the Triple cons again execute Geometry checks and found clear.
8. Then took Midsurface of each element by using Offset from Faces menu of each components. Offset command is used because it is more appropriate for learning purpose.
9. SetPID for each element from SetPID from Faces menu and assign different colours and thickness to them.
10. Then set the length of the mesh to 5 from the Perimeters menu from the Mesh interface.
11. After that add values to the Quality Criteria, turn on the element percentage and click apply.
12. Select the first component and did Join from Macros menu.
13. After that mesh the component using Best from Mesh menu.
14. Then did Reconstuction and Smooth from Shell mesh menu to eliminate OFF elements from the mesh.
15. Try to reduce Trias using Split from Elements menu.
16. Then select the second component and did Join from Macros menu.
17. Mesh the component using Best from Mesh menu.
18. Then did Reconstuction and Smooth from Shell mesh menu to eliminate OFF elements from the mesh.
19. Try to reduce Trias using Split from Elements menu.
20. Select the Third component and did Join from Macros menu.
21. Mesh the component using Best from Mesh menu.
22. Then did Reconstuction and Smooth from Shell mesh menu to eliminate OFF elements from the mesh.
23. Try to reduce Trias using Split from Elements menu.
24. Select the Fourth component and did Join from Macros menu.
25. Mesh the component using Best from Mesh menu.
26. Then did Reconstuction and Smooth from Shell mesh menu to eliminate OFF elements from the mesh.
27. Try to reduce Trias using Split from Elements menu.
28. Select the Fifth component and did Join from Macros menu.
29. Mesh the component using Best from Mesh menu.
30. Then did Reconstuction and Smooth from Shell mesh menu to eliminate OFF elements from the mesh.
31. Try to reduce Trias using Split from Elements menu.
LEARNING OUTCOME:
1. Learn to do Topology Cleanup and fixing geometry errors.
2. Learn to do manual Midsurface using Offset option.
3. Learn to Set PID and Assign thickness.
4. Learn to do joining macros using Join command.
5. Learn to use Split command.
CONCLUSION :
Thus the Geometry checks and Mesh using given Quality criteria has been acheived with the help of ANSA software.
