Week 3 - 2D meshing for Sheet metal

Aim

To extract the mid surface and mesh generation for plastic component based on the given quality criteria

Procedure

insert the model

geometry clean up

mid surface extraction

providing mesh parameters

providing quality parameters

improved mesh

BODY OF THE CONTENT

To extract the mid surface for continuous varying thickness use middle-multi option from faces tab

To assign the thickness to extracted mid surface on continuous varying thickness surface, take average value from the area and assign the value of average to that surface

To proper mesh flow

Splitting the surf by cut option to max possible tiny macros so that it leads to get good mesh flow throughout the model and it reduces trias concentration

Split, swap, join these three option helps to control the trias concentration

Paste option helps to reduce trias on the surface

Num (+\-) helps to maintain equal num of nodes at circle areas and edges

Conclusion

Firstly, we should have done the all steps such as topology clean up, mesh parameters, quality criteria before going to mesh on the extracted mid surface after that cleaning the failure elements and smooth the mesh with appropriate tools such as smooth, cut, regenerate, split, swap, join and so on
