Week 2 - Converging diverging nozzle

Graph of the nozzle velocity

Graph of nozzle mach number

Contour of nozzle pressure

Nozzle temperature
Some Observations:
1) It can be seen that the pressure is higher at inlet and it decreases as the fluid goes from inlet to outlet
2) The temperature which is directly proportional to pressure in idea gases is also showing the similar trend as that of pressure.
3) The velocity is inversely related to the pressure and at the points where the pressure is high , velocity is low and vice versa.
Now it can be seen that the mach number is increasing as we proceed from right to left(inlet to outlet). The mach number is less than 1 in the region between the inlet and the throat and at the throat, the mach number is equal to 1.
At the outlet, the mach number is equal to 1. And as we go from throat towards outlet, the mach number starts to increase.
According to the relation between the mach number and velocity in a nozzle,
`(dM)/M*(1-M^2) = -(dV)/V`
Beyond the throat, the velocity increases. It means dV/V is positive and dM/M is always positive.
It means to satisfy the above equality, 1-`M^2` should be negative. It means M>1 which means, beyond the throat, the flow becomes supersonic
