Challenge

Week 2 Challenge : Surface meshing on a Pressure valve

Aim : To develop the tri mesh on valve body with 3 different element size i.e. 5 mm, 3mm and 1 mm.

Procedure:

step 1 : Open the valve geometry which is in wireframe mode.It should be in shadow mode for better visibility.

Valve Body : It is pressure control valve. When the pressure exceed than the setting pressure then this valve open the path and release the excess pressure.

step 2 : Fill all the gaps which is present in the geometry. For this i had use new face comand, fill hole command.

step 3 : Check also the checks manager for the errors which are not seen direclty.

step 4 : After this we have to create the PIDS for different parts available in the geometry. It includes inlet, outlet, body, spring, column and column head.

step 5 : also remove the unnecessary surfaces which are present i the geometry by using compress comand.

step 6 : Go to the mesh parameter where we have to define the taget length. here we first took minimum target length is 4.5 and 5.5 as a maximum target length.

step 7 : then go to the classic mesh where i used the perimeter option in which use spacing option. Inside this option i used auto CFD where i had given minimum target length and maximum target length is 4.5 and 5.5 respectively. Same for the macros.

step 8 : and finally for cfd mesh visibility i had used mesh generation option. under this cfd visible.

Learning outcomes :

1. Here i studued the surfece mesh generation and step by step procedure.

Results

1. for 5 mm mesh

2. for 3 mm mesh

3. for 1 mm mesh

Conclusion :

The element size of 1 mm is better for the analysis results because it gives better results as compared to the rest of two mesh sizes. As the number of elemets are increased thenumber of equation are also incresed and gives close solution to the problem.
