Week 2 : Basic Calibration of Single cylinder SI-Engine
Aim: To Run the case at 1800 rpm and list down important parameters like air flow rate, BMEP, BSFC, In-cylinder pressure and to run the case by increasing the power output at 3600 rpm by 10%
Theoretical Background:
1] Break Mean Effective Pressure:
The mean effective pressure is a quantity relating to the operation of a reciprocating engine and is a valuable measure of an engine's capacity to do work that is independent of engine displacement.
2] Break Specific Fuel Consumption:
Brake-specific fuel consumption (BSFC) is a measure of the fuel efficiency of any prime mover that burns fuel and produces rotational, or shaft power. It is typically used for comparing the efficiency of internal combustion engines with a shaft output. It is the rate of fuel consumption divided by the power produced.
3] Air Flow rate:
Air volume flowing past a point in the duct per unit of time.
4] In-Cylinder Pressure:
Cylinder Pressure is the pressure in the engine cylinder during the 4 strokes of engine operation.
Model:

Case 1:

Case 2: Increase In Power Output at 3600 rpm by 10%

It can be observed that at the Air fuel ratio of 14 and the Compression ratio of 13.5 the 10 % excess brakepower has been achieved.
