Week 2 Air standard Cycle

Objectives :- To plot the PV Diagram for an Otto cycle and make a plot using the forward kinematics.

Procedure :- There are various Process in Otto Cycle.

If p1 and t1 are the inputs and t3 output parameters then we can calculate v1, v2 , p2, p3, p4, t2, t4 even it has two constant volume processes so v2 = v3 and v1 = v4.

We have to Calculate the thermal efficiency of the otto cycle.

Otto Cycle There are Various process in the Otto Cycle they are as follows:-

1) Process 1-2 is an adiabatic (isentropic) compression.

2) Process 2-3 is constant volume heat transfer

3) Process 3-4 is an adiabatic (isentropic) expansion.

4) Process 4-1 completes the cycle with constant volume process in heat is rejected.

Thermal Efficiency of engine is given by

Where η = Thermal efficiency.

r = compression ratio that is ‘cr’.

K = value of gamma is 1.4 adiabatic process.
