Challenge

Week -2

                                                           1.    SIMULINK MODEL OF DOORBELL

AIM                   :  To make a simulink model of Doorbell using solenoid block

REQUIREMENTS :  Battery, Switch, Solinoid block, Solver configuration Block, Electrical Reference,

Ideal translational motion sensor, mechanical traslational reference, PS-simulink convertor, simulink-PS

                           convertor, pulse generator.

PROCEDURE      : 1. Assigning required blocks for the simulink model.

                          2. Planning for the simulink model how to be started using blocks.

                          3. Connecting battery to the solinoid block using switch.

                          4. Due to the condition of doorbell to be started at each time gap of two seconds, we use pulse generator.

                          5. In Pulse generator, we sit time period of two for seconds in which half cycle has been completed in 2 seconds

                          6. The result of ON condition can be obtained using translational motion sensor block.

                          7. The results can be viewed using scope and to convert physical signal, we use PS-Simulink conertor.

RESULT        : Based on the signal produced from the pulse generator, the solinoid moves the small rod and doorbell start

working. Results can be viewed using graph produced from scope.

                                                         2. THERMISTOR CHALLENGE

AIM            : Use a thermistor to sense the temperature of a heater & turn ON or turn OFF the fan as per the following conditions

                     " Temperature Source : 20C from 0 to 10 seconds, 27C from 10 to 30 seconds, 23C from 30 to 50 seconds."

Fan Condition : ON if the temperature above 25C, OFF otherwise.

REQUIREMENTS : Signal builder block, PS-Simulink convertor, Controlled temperature source, Thermistor, DC source,

Solver configuration, Electrical reference, Resistor, Voltage sensor, Switch, Constant, Scope, Display

PROCEDURE     : 1. Observing the challenge and analysing the rough data required for the task.

                         2. listing the required elements from Simulink library.

                         3. Arranging the Simulink blocks in order to perform the specific challenge.

                         4. Signal Builder Block is used for the various input to the thermistor and is passed through the Controlled

                            temperature source.

                         5. In order to get the ON condition, we have to get the Volatge value for the temperature of 25C. So by

changing the input value of thermistor to 25C using constant and observing the voltage value at that point.

This value is set as a threshold value for the switch.

                         6. while the temperature value is above 25C, it gives a output of 1 on scope and else it returns 0.

RESULT    :  Thermistor challenge is run successfully and its output value can be measured using scope as 1 and 0
