1)

For solenoid input we are using pulse generator to produce signal of amplitude 1 for every 2 second, this input simulink signal is converted to physical signal and given as a exciting signal to switch having threshold as 0(switch is closed when signal amp is 1 and switch is opend when signal amp is 0).

input:input signal to switch

since solenoid is a elcetro mechanical componant solenoid is excited by battery connected in series with the switch, when switch is closed solenoid is excited and when switch is open solenoid is not excited.

when solenoid is excited the plunger experiences the too and forth motion this translation movement is observed using ideal translation motion sensor and the result is monitored using scope.the plunger will also experience the force when solenoid state is changed from excitation.

output:plunger motion

during 0 to 2 sec switch is open and plunger motion is zero.(solenoid is neither excited nor deexcited)

during 2 to 4 sec switch is closed and solenoid excited and plunger vibrates for nearly 0.5sec.

during 4 to 6 sec switch is closed again solenoid's exciting state is changed and plunger vibrates in opposite direction as shown in figure.

when ever solenoid's exciting state changed the plunger will vibrate.

2)In our model thermistor reference temperature is set to 273.15K.

As per the given condition signal builder is used to produce the input (20C during 0 to 10sec, 27c during 10 to 30 sec and 23C during 30 to 50 sec.)since our matlab models read in Kelvin the convertion is made from celsius to kelvin.

input: input signal for controlled temperature source.

this input is converted to physical signal and given as input to controlled temperature source.since A is given to refernce the output is equal to input.this temperature signal is given as input to thermistor and resistance of thermistor is decreases when temperature is increased and vice versa.voltage sensor is connected across thermistor to calculate the voltage drop.

image:voltage drop across thermistor.

for our model voltage drop at 25C is 4.971v

if the volatge drops more than 4.971v which means temperature is increased.

by keeping this condition the output will be one if voltage drop across thermistor is less than 4.971v and output will be zero if voltage drop across thermistor is more than 4.971v.if temperature is greater than 25C then output will be one and if temperature is lesser than 25C then output will be zero.
