Week 14 challenge
3-2-1 Principle.
- 3-2-1 principle is completely based on the axis system, which consist of X, Y & Z. These axis acts perpendicular to each other also called as Datum planes. These principle defines the work piece position, the work piece is completely constrain to arrest the the dimension given.
- The principle constrain the geometry with the help of X moving, X rotation, Y moving, Y rotation, Z moving and Z rotation.
- The fundamental concept is to arrest the work piece for operation like part to be machined, punched, to make hole and for punching operation.
- These concepts are very useful in CNC Machines. Which decides the moving direction of the tools which results in a perfect machining concepts.
The steps involved in it are:
- Supporting
- Locating (positioning)
- Holding (clamping)
The work piece should be locked according to the six coordinates:
- Translational position along the X-Axis
- Translational position along the Y-Axis
- Translational position along the Z-Axis
- Rotational position about the X-Axis
- Rotational position about the Y-Axis
- Rotational position about the Z-Axis
- First plane is defined with three points
- Second plane is defined with two points
- Third plane is defined with one points.
