Week 14 challenge

Challenge 14

Objective

Assemble the components of the butterfly valve and apply the GD& T to it.

Introduction

The valve of the butterfly valve controls the flow of the fluid with the help of the components such as shaft, plate, retainer, lever etc.

Main report

In the assembly workbench importing all the components.

Using the align and touch constrain for the shaft and the plate.

Fixing the valve and assembling the shaft with the valve.

Placing the retainer on the valve

Placing the lever on the retainer and aligning it with the axis of the shaft.

Nut on the lever and aligning it with the axis of the shaft.

Connecting the retainer with the valve using nuts

GD&T to the assembly

The butterfly valves connected by the pipes through both the ends. So, in the drawing sheet both the sides and the side view of the butterfly valves.

Naming one side of the surface as the A datum.

Since the A datum as 3 holes in the surface. So, dividing it into 3 datum target areas.

Now dimensioning all the holes of corresponding to the datum with a tolerance of 0.1mm

Applying the feature control frame as the flatness of 0.25mm to the datum target areas.

Applying feature control frame to 1st hole with respect to A datum. And mentioning it as B datum.

Applying feature control frame to 2nd hole with respect to A and B datum. And mentioning it as C datum.

Applying feature control frame to 3rd hole with respect to A, B and C datum. And mentioning it as D datum.

Now applying a profile feature control frame to the other side of the A datum.

Dimensioning the holes with a tolerance of 0.75mm, and applying the position tolerance with respect to B, C, D datum respectively.

GD & T of the assembly

Conclusion

The parts are assembled and GD& T is applied to it.
