Week 12 - Project-1
Aim- Meshing of a car side door interior panel ( plastic component )
Abstract- In this project, we extract the mid surface of the model and mesh the mid surface with a 4mm target element size, and then thickness will assign.

Quality Criteria-

Methodology-
1- Import the geometry and cleaning up.
2- Split/divide the model into 5 parts and save them in different PIDs to make the process easy.
3- Extract the mid surface of each part with the manual mid (OFFSET) method.
4- Assign the meshing element quality criteria.
5- Mesh the component and check for error.
6- Assign the property and material to the component.
Procedure-
1- Import the geometry.

2- Splitting into 5 parts.

3-Defeaturing-
Defeaturing the ribs which have a length less than 2mm.

4- Mid surface extraction.
Use the manual surface offset method for getting the mid surface and extend the rib to the connecting surface.

6- Meshing of the component.

7- Element quality check-

8- Property and material assignment-

10- Quality criteria setup-

Conclusion-
The model has meshed well with the target element size 4mm and free from any quality failure. The mesh flow looks decent and uniform. The connectivity of the mesh well and maintained. Any big component can split into parts and then we can work on that part by part.
