Week - 10 - Creating the midline and spot weld
Objective:
First part aims to prepare script that simplifies creating midline from tubular solid shape. Second part covers creating multiple spotwelds, each one in seperate collector.
Problem Statement:
Creating midline using bulitin tool can result in not acceptable outcome, automatic procedure tries to make smooth transitions in places that do not have such in original geometry. To have full controll over how midline is created, this process has to be made in steps, each pair of lines at time and then all of them combined into one line.
For spotwelds process involves creating new component, creating new RBE connection between selected nodes, renaming component. This process is quite time consuming, creating script that covers all operations in loop is very usefull.
Tcl command explanation:
Script mid_line starts from creating two lists of lines via *createlistbypathpanel option, input is initally checked for proper input (at least one line has to be in each of inputs), and secondary check for equal number of input lines in lines_list_1 and lines_list_2. Then those two lists are concatenated into nested list where lines are paired for further operations. Concatenated pair_list goes through foreach loop, which creates mid line and populates its id to mid_line_list. All created lines are then passed to mark and combined together via *linecombinemark command. Eventually marks are cleared, script ends.
Script spot_weld starts with selecting two lists containing source_nodes and target_nodes. Then they are checked for equality if not script returns. Then foreach loop going through two list simulatiously, creates new component with name convention RBE_source_node&target_node. Eventually rigid link is created.
Conclusion:
Two scripts have been prepared to meet this challenge requirements. They both have bultin checks for proper input data.
