Week 10 - Challenge 3 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features
AIM:
Create the Door Trim Lower Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
Create the Heat Stakes and the locators considering the design rules mentioned in the video for the door applique.
TOOLING AXIS
To create the tooling axis we need study the class A surface and there is no gap between the surface. Create the point on the surface after create the tooling axis.
DRAFT ANALYSIS:
Draft analysis used to analysis the part for proper draft angle. It has 3 color scale green blue and red and maximum draft angle up to 3deg.Finally fix the compass on tooling axis on Class A surface.
Class B surface
For making the B surface offset done from 2.5mm Class A.
After offset we can observed there is patches in Class B.
The Areas where the B-surface has issues are corrected by closing them using commands like join (which is helps to remove the surface), Multiple extract and trim.
Finally I made with edge fillet in trimmed area, and verified boundary.
Class C surface
In C class surface we have to create the edge surface of the bumper.
For this I use the sweep command for creating the surface and need to trim.
In class B I used sweep command and the extra surface on boundary.
Closed surface
Finally i done the closed surface command to conform all surfaces are closed.
Draft analysis
Here i done the draft analysis is to conform the drafting we made 3deg. Because 3deg is maximum permissible for part.
To create Heat stakes
- Heat staking also known as thermoplastic staking is the process of joining two dissimilar materials together.
- Heat Staking is a pulsed-heat process to join two or more parts out of which one at least is made of plastic
- Create a plane on a surface and a create a point.
- Create a sketch (circle) on the point dia 5 and 5.2 and make pad on the sketch with thick surface.
- Make the union trim on the Class c surface.
- Make a fillet in edges maximum 0.25mm.
- Make the draft angle for heat stakes(0.5deg)
To create the locaters
- Use of locaters to locating and fixturing pins are press-fit, removable hardware devices designed to align or affix two work pieces to very small tolerances.
- Create a plane on a surface and a create a point.
- Create a sketch line on the point around 20mm and make pad on the sketch with thick surface.
- Make the union trim on the Class c surface.
- Make a fillet in edges maximum 0.25mm.
- Create the draft angle at 0.5 deg for locators
Conclusion:
Verify the door trim with Draft angle at 0.45deg.
