Week 10 - Challenge 2- Attachment Feature Creation (Dog House)

Aim: To create the dog house on a Door Trim following the design principles.

Introduction:

Dog House:

Dog house is an engineering feature used in plastic design. Dog houses are used as support feature. Sometimes other engineering features like snaps, locators, screw bosses are mounted on them to increase their strength.

Dog houses are subjected to draft analysis to prevent breakage of the component during ejection from the mould cavity. Dog house and oher engineering components are built on the B-surface.

Objective:

  • To create a Tooling axis for the given class A surface
  • Create class B and class C surfaces using given class A surface
  • Close these class A, B, C surfaces after joining them inorder to make a part body
  • After creating the part body, design sketches inorder to create a dog house on class B surface
  • Create side core axis for the dog house
  • Assemble the obtained bodies
  • Perform Drafting analysis on both class A surface and final Body part

Design Methodology:

Given class A surface as input

Check for continuity of the given surface using Join or Boundary commands.

If there are no gaps on the A surface, create tooling axis.
