Week 10 Bullet penetrating a Bucket Challenge
AIM:
To perform the bullet penetrating bucket simulation,
PROCEDURE:
- First we will import the given model in ANSYS workbench in Explicit dynamics module.

- Here we are using three non linear material for the bucket. So we are using Aluminum alloy NL, Copper Allot NL, Stainless stell NL for bucket.
- Now next is to mesh the component. So we are creating a sizing module to mesh the edges of bucket as the bullet is going to pass through them. The mesh size for the edges is 6mm.

- Now after that we will do the analysis setting.

- After this we will fixed the bucket. So it will not move after the bulllet hit.

- Next we will assign the velocity to the bullet.

- Next is to add the result which we required and solve the problem
CASE 1: Aluminum Alloy NL

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain

CASE 2: Copper Alloy NL

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain

CASE 3: Stainless Steel NL

Total Deformation:

Equivalent Stress:

Equivalent Elastic Strain

| Sr No. | Material | Total Deformation (mm) | Equivalent Stress (MPa) | Equivalent Elastic Strain (MPa) |
| 1 | Aluminum Alloy NL | 1390 | 1203.7 | 0.01737 |
| 2 | Copper Alloy NL | 1390 | 2475 | 0.0255 |
| 3 | Stainless Steel NL | 1390 | 4280.6 | 0.0211 |
Results:
- The results are obatined using the different material for the bucket.
- As we see the total deformation is same for all the cases. But Equivalent stress is changing from material to material.
- Collper Alloy NL material has maximum equivalent stress and Aluminum alloy has minimum equivalent stress.
