BULLET PENETRATING BUCKET CHALLENGE
OBJECTIVES
In this challenge, we have to simulate a bullet penetrating into a bucket. You will need to use 3 different non linear materials for the bucket and analyse their behaviour for the same velocity of bullet. Apply the conditions for bullet as mentioned in the video itself and an animation to show the behaviour in the three cases is attached.
PROCEDURE
RESULTS
Case 1: Stainless steel NL
Total Deformation
Equivalent stress
Equivalent strain
Case 2: Aluminium alloy NL
Total Deformation
Equivalent stress
Equivalent strain
Case 1: Titanium alloy NL
Total Deformation
Equivalent stress
Equivalent strain
Conclusion
|
Total deformation (mm) |
Equivalent strain |
Equivalent stress(MPa) |
Stainless steel NL |
625.5 |
0.021647 |
4666.6 |
Aluminium alloy NL |
1390 |
0.020832 |
1411.4 |
Titanium alloy NL |
1390 |
0.067688 |
8144.6 |
From the above stimulation it is clearly concluded that the stress generated by aluminium alloy NL material is less than other NL materials hence the bullet penetration in aluminium is more compared to stainless steel and titanium alloy.
