DESIGN AND ASSEMBLE OF LAMBORGHINI GALLARDO

Aim and objectives:

• To design and assemble Lamborghini Gallardo using solidworks.

Introduction:

• Car body is modelled by using surface modelling.
• Then the tyre is modelled by part modelled and assembled with car body.
• Finally the car is rendered in solidworks visualiser.

Parts to be modelled:

• Car body
• Car wheel

Car body:

• The car body is the main part of the car actually it is modelled by using 90% by surface modelling.

Commands used in car body:

• Sketch picture
• Sketch
• Project curve
• 3Dsketch
• Surface loft
• Surface fill
• Surface trim
• Surface ruled
• Surface extend
• Knit surface
• Mirror
• Cut extrude

Sketch picture

• Sketch picture is used to insert the picture into the solidworks, it is mainly used to create the blueprint of the model.

Sketch:

• Sketch is basically a 2d representation of a particular from a different view such as front view, side view, top view etc. The sketch basically comprises of commands like lines, arcs, circle etc.

Project curve:

• The project curve is used to create 3d curves using two different sketchs.it is available in the insert menu.

3D sketch:

• 3D sketch command is used to sketch in 3d form in all the three direction.

Lofted Base:

• Creates a 3D surface using cross-sections, a least need two sketches to form the surface and one sketch to guide the path of the surface.

Fill surface:

• Creates a surface patch within the boundary defined by existing model edges, sketches or curves.

Surface trim:

• Surface command is used to trim or remove the un wanted surface with reference to the sketch or another surface.

Surface ruled:

• Surface ruled is used to create a extended surface at certain angle or perpendicular to the selected surface.

Knit surface:

• Knit surface is used to combine two surfaces without any gap, and it is also used to make the surface solid.

Surface Extrude:

• Creates an extruded surface based on some reference sketch.

Mirror:

• Mirror command is used to duplicate the parts with reference to the plane, face or edges.

Cut Extrude:

• The extrude cut tool is used to remove the material from the part based on the sketch.

Car wheel:

• Car tyre is a rotating device which is used to move the car forward and reverse.

Commands used in wheel:

• Sketch
• Extrude base
• Cut extrude
• Revolve
• Revolve cut
• Circular pattern

Boss Extrude:

• The extrude command is used to create a solid extrusion based on the selected sketch in both the direction.

 Revolve:

• Revolve is command is used to revolve the sketch using reference axis.

Revolve cut:

• Revolve cut command is used to cut the part using a sketch and axis as a reference.

Circular Pattern:

• The circular pattern tool is used to pattern the sketch or extrude part with reference to the axis.

Assemble:

• All four wheels are assembled on the car body with concentric and distance mate.

Conclusion:

• All the parts of the Lamborghini Gallardo are modelled using surface and part in solidworks.

Outcomes: 

• Learned how to use surface and assemble the parts.
