Week 1 Understanding Different Battery Chemistry

1.

Cathode Anode
Lithium Cobalt Oxide Graphite
Lithium Manganese Oxide Graphite
Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminium Oxide Graphite
Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide Graphite
Lithium Iron Phosphate Graphite
Lithium Titanium Oxide Graphite

During charging the lithium ion cells transfer from cathodes (positive electrode) to anodes (negative electrode). The positively charged ions transfer to the negative electrode and negatively charged ions move to the positive electrode.

During discharging the lithium ion cells transfer from anodes (negative electrode) to cathodes (positive electrode). The positively charged ions transfer to the positive electrode and negatively charged ions move to the negative electrode.

2.

Lithium Ion Battery Types
LCO (Lithium Cobalt Oxide)
LMO (Lithium Manganese Oxide)
NCA (Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminium Oxide)
NMC (Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide)
LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate)
LTO (Lithium Titanium Oxide)
