Week 1 Understanding Different Battery Chemistry

Lithium battery is advance battery system. Its construction made with following components 1)Electrode a) Cathode b) anode 2)Electrolyte 3)Separator.

1. Electrode

Cathode :- (positive) oxide, sulphur and other components

electrons through which conventional current leave electric device

Anode:- (negative) metal and alloy.

Electrons through which conventional current enter in polorised electronic device.

2. Electrolyte:- Medium that permit to ionic condition and non-conductor for electrons

3. Insulation:- Insulation material between two layer

Type of Battery

  • NMC (NCM) – Lithium Nickel Cobalt Manganese Oxide (LiNiCoMnO2)
  • LFP – Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4/C)
  • LTO – Lithium Titanate (Li4 Ti5 O12)
  • NCA – Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminium Oxide (LiNiCoAlO2)
  • LMO – Lithium Manganese Oxide (LiMn2O4)
  • LCO – Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LiCoO2)

Primary :- Non chargeable

Secondary:-chargeable
