2.Compare the differences between each type of Li+ion batteries based on their characteristics
ANS====
Below are the different types of batteries where I give some explanation and have idea about the difference between all this batteries.
LCO : Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LiCoO2)
LMO : Lithium Manganese Oxide (LiMn2O4)
NMC : Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNimCoO2)
LFP : Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4)
NCA : Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide (LiNiCoAlO2)
LTO : Lithium Titanate (Li2TiO3)
Q 2: Compare the difference between each type of Li-ion batteries based on their characteristic
Ans :
First of all, there is two type of cell,
1) Primary cell- which is not rechargeable.
2) Secondary cell – which is rechargeable.
- LCO : Lithium Cobalt Oxide (LiCoO2)
The Lithium Cobalt Oxide battery is type of lithium ion battery. This battery consist cobalt oxide on cathode and anode is layered as carbon.
Lithium ions move from anode (Negative) to cathode (positive) at the time of discharge cycle and reverse direction during charge time.
Its drawback is that its current capacity at the time of charge and discharge is limited.
- LMO : Lithium Manganese Oxide
This ion battery structured allows high current flow and it able to do fast charge. This improves the flow of ions on electrode.
The advantage is that it improves the thermal stability and also safety of cell.
Disadvantage is that there is limited life time.
- NMC : Lithium Nickel Manganese Cobalt Oxide (LiNimCoO2)
This type of battery is combination of nickel and manganese. Nickel is high specific energy and poor stability. Where manganese is low resistance and low specific energy.
- LFP : Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4)
This ion battery provides low internal resistance and high current capacitance.
There is also providing low terminal voltage. It also provides high current rating, and good thermal stability.
- NCA : Lithium Nickel Cobalt Aluminum Oxide (LiNiCoAlO2)
This ion battery slightly seen in consumer but is used in automotive industry.
Main advantage is that is has good life and high energy and power.
