STATIC STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS ON SPUR GEAR

OBJECTIVES

               To perform static and structural analysis on spur gear and find out the equivalent stress, Total Deformation and equivalent strain among the three different materials of cast iron ductile, cast steel, cast bronze.

PROCEDURE

• Select the required materials from the engineering data if the material is not there just creating them with required parameters.
• Then open spaceclaim in geometry and import the model into it.

• Then give assign the required contact faces and target faces on the spur gear.

• Then assign body to ground – revolute joints on the bore face of the gear.

• Then mesh the gears with required sizing and quality parameters.

• Then assign the joint loads as revolute and moment.

Conclusion

From bove table both the stress intensity and max stress is less in cast steel other than two material hence 

the suitable material foe spur gear is cast steel.
