Mixing Tee analysis using Ansys
Introduction
Mixing tee is a type of mixing mechanism. Mixing Tees utilizes a specifically engineered internal geometry to efficiently mix two fluid streams into one combined stream. Mixing tees are widely used in the petrochemical, HVAC industry etc.
Mesh analysis
Bounding box method used by Ansys is the minimum box which could contain the volume size
Mesh quality
Minimum mesh quality 30% and maximum 90% which is quite satisfactory for such type of geometry and it is considered as a simple geometry. In general mesh quality should be less than 5%. Mesh quality depends on many parameters such as finite volume method, skewness, aspect ratio, and interpolation scheme.
Solution inputs
Selected parameters
1 Steady state solution.
2 Pressure based because of low Reynolds number.
3 Energy selected because flow temperatures are considered
4 Viscous model selected as the flow can be turbulent
5 k-epsilon – realizable – standard wall functions (RANS/ Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes based turbulence models)
5 Material added is air
6 Define the boundaries parameters.
7 Define two service reports required in this case, at the outlet the area weighted average of the parameter temperature and the standard deviation.
