Week 1 Challenge

1.2 Materials that can be designed are - concrete , steel , timber , aluminium

1.3 it is possible to capture image in staad pro by clicking on TAKE PICTURE option under UTILITY tab

1.4 three ways are

(a) by using structure wizard

(b) by translation repeat option

(c) by by simply putting the coordinates under node tab

1.5 steps for assigning properties are -

to assign property , first we have to define a property

(a) click on property under workflow page controler

(b) under properties click on define

(c) under define dialog box define the material

(d) now in vied window select the beam or column that you have to assign the property

(e) now click on assign to the selected beams then click on assign

2.1 Design parameters are - clear cover , compressive strenght of concrete , yield stress of steel , maximum bar diameter for beam , maximum bar diameter for column , brace

2.2 node cursor , beam cursor , plate cursor , solid cursor

2.3 different views can be generated by clicking on view tab , under view tab click on different view available like isometric view , top view , front view .

2.4 After generating beam we can assign the support . click on support under the workflow page control , then supports tab will open , click on creat . To create a simply support we have to create a custom support which can be done by clickin on FIXD BUT option , for simply support we have to release the moment along all three directions and we have to release force along X ,Z direction . then click on add . now select the support created and the select the node where you have to assign , then click on the assign to selected node then click on assign

2.5 five topics for DBR are-

(a) Introduction

(b) structural layout

(c) load and combinations

(d) analysis and design methodology

(e) appendix

2.6 Multi material design - this means staad pro can design different types of material at a same time . one can apply materials like - concrete , steel , timber , aluminium and the design and nanlyse it .

3.1 structure system available in staad pro are -

(a) truss system - It is an assembly of members such as beam connected by nodes , that creates a rigid structure. In engineering, a truss is a structure that consists of two-force members only, where the members are organized so that the assemblage as a whole behaves as a single object . A two-force member is a structural component where force is applied to only two points.

(b) frame system - it is a system which only consist of beam and columns .in this system no slabs are included . there are different types of frame structure are available such as rigid frames , pin ended rigid frame , braced frame .

3.2 In staad pro cartisian coordinate system is adopted . under this it has two system one is global coordinate system and local coordinate system . the global coordinate system are fixed system which can not be changed where as local coordinate system are flexible system which can be changed like while assigning the plates if we go clockwise plate generation y axis of the plate will be up and if we go anticlockwise y axis of the plate will be down.

3.3 DBR stands for design basis report , it consist of all the information of building required for design . it consist of all the load taken in staad , all the design parameters , load combinations and the load combinations . it is bacically used for designing a building .

3.4 Different type of analysis options available are -

(a) Analysis command - this command is used when instruction needed in a staad pro file for initiating the analysis and any including any additional output instruction . it is important that appropiate analysis method is selected and it is incerted after the load cases and the combination is incerted .

(b) pre analysis command - this display the dialog that allows the addition of the command that are typically used for any analysis instruction to add result data instruction to an output file .

(c) post analysis command - this display the dialog that allows the addition of the command that are typically uded before any analysis instruction to add modal data instruction to an output file .

3.5 difference between fixed and fixed but - both are the support condition , in fixed condition moment and forces are restrained in all the three direction where as in fixed but yhere is options to release moment and forces in any directions .
