V-Block Assembly : Week 4 Challenge

V-Block

Part design and Assembly (Top Down Assembly method)

  1. In Mechanical design, open assembly work bench. in assembly work bench open new part body under insert option and name the part as body.
  2. Create a origin point using point command under reference element option.
  3. In the above part design, draw a profile using line command on xy plane and give spicific dimensions to it, then extrude the profile to 19mm along vertical axis.
  4. Insert a new body, draw a profile similar to the above profile on a plane paralle to xz plane and at a distance of 25mm from it. extrude the profile to 50mm along y-axis.
  5. Add the above body to the main part body using add command under boolen operation.
  6. Draw a elongated hole on the flat top surface of body at 19mm above xy plane and pocket it to 1mm into the body.
  7. Draw a circle of dia 8mm on xy plane with its centre coincident to origin point and use pocket command till last to create a circular hole accross the body.
  8. Draw a circle of dia 10mm on yz plane with its centre coincident to origin point and use pocket command to create ahole accross the body.
  9. Draw a inverted triangle of horizontal length of 3mm and vertical height of 3mm at the desired location.
  10. Select the above profile and pocket it to 24mm on both side.(Name the above part body as 'Body' )
  11. Under product, start a new part body and name it as U-Clamp.
  12. In the above part design, draw two concentric circle of R23 & R18 and draw two lines tangent to both to both circle and keep the dist b\w one end of line and circular end as 54mm.
  13. Draw line using profile command and close the geometry. use acr option to remove sharp edges and extrude the profile to 6.5mm on both side along x-axis.
  14. Draw a circle of dia 4mm on top flat surface of the above parallel to xy plane and then pocket it till last to create a hole.
  15. In new part body under product, creat a shaft of length 48mm with variable dia of 4mm & 10mm by drawing a linear profile of given dimension and then use shaft command with z-axis as axis of rotation.
  16. Name the above part body as Fastener. then double click on product to get back to assembly work bench.
  17. Use coincident and contact constraints to assembly Body with the U-clamp.
  18. Use coincident constraint to assembly the fastener with the u-clamp and use manipulation command to move or rotate the body for assembly with respect to plane , axis or along axis.
  19. Click on product, then select scene command. under enhanced scene work bench select on exploded view option by fixing body. this process will generate a exploded view of assembly.
  20. Exit enhanced scene, then click on product and select generate numbering command under product structure tools.

Drawing

  1. Open drafting work bench under Mechanical design. Select ISO standard and sheet size of A3
  2. Click on isometric view, then go to product work bench and click on any surface of the assembly under isometric view. this process will automatically generate a drawing of assembly in isometric view in the drawing sheet.
  3. Again click on isometric view, then go to product work bench and select scene in application. then click on any surface of assembly in isometric view, which will generate a drawing of exploded view.
  4. Single click on exploded view drawing, then go to generation in insert and select balloon generation. this process will create numbering in balloon effect.
  5. Then select Bill of Material option in generation to create BOM for the assembly and its parts invoved in assembly.
