Underbody Coating

Noise and vibrations transferred from the car's engine, drive train, suspension system, and road are affecting the ride quality of the passenger compartment of the car and needs to be filtered, accordingly, the UBC (underbody coating) is applied to the underbody area of the car to impart noise-proofing and vibration-deadening. The UBC also provides anti-corrosion and chipping protection, preventing air and water ingress and inhibit rust formation. The underbody coating is accomplished either manually or with robotic arms equipped with airless spray guns.

There are three main types of underbody coatings: PVC-based, asphalt or wax-based coating and the acrylic and urathane resin based coats. The PVC sealant is applied to panel joints and seams to prevent the accumulation of moisture and corrosion controlling.

The asphalt or wax-based or urathane resin coating is sprayed under the chassis, covering much more area than PVC sealant, protecting vulnerable components from the stone chipping and harsh environment damages.

The underbody coating is applied after the ED (electrodeposition) step and then, the primer color and base color coat will cover the UBC.
