Underbody Coating

Under body Coating:

Underbody coating is usually a coating done or painting sprayed uniformly under the carriage of an automobile. the under body coating prevents the car from the damage of teh under carriage. the main purpose of the coating is to avoid the wear and tear ,also avoids the rust formation.Underbody coating provides long term protection from corrosion to car’s underbody. It also protects parts like internal body panels, frame rails and other inner cavities that are not physically accessible but are prone to corrosion.

The Process involved in underbody coating are:

These three preocess are the main process or the steps which all the underbody coating involves

Pre Treatment:

In the pretreatment phase small unwanted projections and the welded beeds are being removed and smoothened to make the paint to apply evenly. The moisture content in all the place and water droplets in all the place are being removed so that the paint can easily fixed.

finally the precoating of primer like solution is made to be appliede on the body which makes the coating to easily applied all over the surface

Coating:

In the coating process the actual coating is being done either by automatically or semi automatically depending on the availability. During the coating process the whole underbody is being immersed int the bath full of coating material so that the coating may be applied to all the places evenly.

The immersing technique also varies according like Method 1 immersing in the Particular angle and make it to float inside the tub and take out the body in the particular angle.

The Another method is to make the body to rotate fullt in the bath so that each part of the small region gets coated well.

After Treatment:

some of the place may be wet and needs to be dried so it is sent into the heat tunnel so that all the coating can be dried easily.

Types of under body coating are:

Rubberized underbody coating

It is the most usefull coating because it avoids the noice on the bumps and also avoids the scratches which avoids the removal of paint

wax based underbody coating:

These type of coating vanishes in few months of time but this plays main role against the rust formation and fights against moisture.

Asphalt based under body coating:

This type of coating is used mainly in the heavy vehicles like trucks and containers tankers which needs greater protection compared to that of rubber coating, even though it contains some rubber, the asphalt based coating last for long time and also better in toughness.

Polyurethane underbody coating:

This coating generally combines the splits and small fracture components with the help of the painting technique. it also helps against the corrosion, wear and tear and it can also be painted on after the asphalt coating.
