Procedure:

  1. Switch Panel
  1. Geometry Clean-up

We will open Switch Panel in ANSA readable format. After opening the file we need to set the target length in order to get the smooth part as well as achieve target element at an initial stage. We will assign target element length as 1 mm. The next step is crucial step going ahead, that is checking the given model is of good quality. We need to ensure the model is free from any topological error using Geometry Check-Up. We need to use geometry Check-Up to see the numbers of existing errors.

2. Extracting Mid-surface

The given model consist of many ribs. Ribs have prime importance, as it increases the strength. We will extract every ribs. First we will extract its main body with mid length of 1.5 mm and then we will extract the portion supporting ribs, and subsequently every ribs portion. Once, mid surface of all part is extracted we will give each part its separate PID.

3. Meshing

Before we begin meshing, we need to set the target element length. For the given model it is 4 mm. We need to set it in the mesh parameter. We will extend the triple cone construction using CUT option, to reduce any undesirable tria elements.

Fig: Mesh before rearragement

We will remove every trias as much as possible. For the given parts the off elements number should be low, as it cannot be completely removed. We will subsequently remove every tria element from fillet portion.

2. Floor Panel

  1. Geometry Clean-up

We will open Floor Panel in ANSA readable format. After opening the file we need to set the target length in order to get the smooth part as well as achieve target element at an initial stage. We will assign target element length as 1 mm. The next step is crucial step going ahead, that is checking the given file is of good quality. We need to ensure the model is free from any topological error using Geometry Check-Up. We need to use geometry Check-Up to see the numbers of existing errors. For this part, there will be cracked cons, needle faces and collapsed cons that will be needed to be addressed before extracting mid-surface.

2. Extracting Mid-surface

The given surface is almost symmetrical having thickness 2 mm throughout. We will take the mid-surface of entire extract at 1 mm. As, the given part has uniform length we will give single PID.

3. Meshing

Before we begin meshing, we need to set the target element length. For the given model it is 4 mm. We need to set it in the mesh parameter.

Fig: Mesh before rearragement

For the symmetrical portion we will keep half portion. For given part, we will reconstruct the construction line to avoid any quality issue. We will use CUT command to divide the symmetrical area. Thereafter, we will DELETE the similar FACES.

Then we will proceed with meshing. Here we will resolve every off elements. We will leave some in case it disturbs the mesh pattern, and in this part it will be back to back trias element.

Using COPY under TRANSFORM we will bring the other half back. For The asymmetrical face we need to use series of operation to make sure it goes right.

Results:

  1. Switch Panel

Quads = 2772 (93.68 %)

Trias = 187 (6.32 %)

Total = 2959

2. Floor Panel

Quads = 11278 (96.82 %)

Trias = 370 (3.18 %)

Total = 11648

Conclusion:

The meshing of Switch Panel & Floor Panel model after clean-up of topological error is done.
