Steering Geometry 1
1.Calculate the following geometric parameters:
i.Caster=5.38 deg
ii.Mechanical trail=9.41 mm
iii.Kingpin inclination angle=10.1 deg
iv.Scrub radius=32.35 mm
v.Kingpin lateral offset or spindle length=85.29 mm
2. Calculating the restoring moment
Moment arm is the sum of mechanical trail and pneumatic trail.
Mechanical trail=9.41 mm
Penumatic trail=25 mm
Moment arm= 9.41 + 25 = 34.41 mm
Lateral Force=2000 N
Restoring Moment= 2000 * 34.41 =68980 Nmm
3. How we can change the sign of scrub radius ?
For changing the sign of the scrub radius we can give a less value to the Y ( pointing towards the right) cordinate of the UCA knuckle ball joint.
