1. Introduction
The purpose of this report is to present a comprehensive load calculation for the proposed residential building. Accurate load calculations are essential for evaluation of dead loads, live loads, and wind loads, considering various factors such as building dimensions, materials, occupancy, and local environmental conditions.
This analysis will facilitate informed decision-making in the design and construction phases, ultimately contributing to a resilient and efficient residential structure that prioritizes occupant safety and comfort.
2. Aim
The primary aim of this report is to accurately calculate the structural loads for the proposed residential building, which include dead load, live load, and wind load. By systematically evaluating these loads, we seek to ensure the structural integrity and safety of the building while meeting local building codes and standards.

3.3 Load Calculations
- Dead Load (DL):
Calculation of permanent loads including structural components (walls, floors, roofs).
o Slab load,
Thickness of slab =0.125m
Density of concrete =25kN/m^3
Dimension of slab = 9.8m x 6.6m
Dead load for each slab =0.125*25*9.8*6.6= 202.125kN
o Beam load,
Dimension of beam=0.2m*0.35m
Density of concrete= 25kN/m^3
Per m length of beam for GL and FF = 57.5+52.2 = 109.7m
Dead load of beam= 0.2*0.35*25*109.7 = 191.975kN
o Column load,
Dimension of each column = 0.2*0.2m
Height of column = 4.5m
Density of concrete= 25kN/m^3
Dead load of each column = 0.2*0.2*4.5*25 = 4.5kN
o Wall load,
Height of wall= 4.5m
Assume thickness=0.2m
Density of brick=20kN/m^3
Length of wall = 109.7m
Dead load of wall= 0.2*4.5*20*109.7 = 1974.6kN
- Live Load (LL):
Local building codes for specific live load requirements per area.
o As per IS 875, for residential areas, LL=2kN/m^2
Area of the total building = 9.8*6.6 = 64.68m^2
Live Load= 2*64.68 = 129.36kN
- Wind Load (WL):
Evaluation of wind pressure acting on the building based on its height, shape, and location.
Basic wind load P=0.6*V^2
V is local wind speed , so based on that wind speed should be calculated
4. Results
4.1 Dead Load Calculation
- Slab: 202.125kN
- Beam: 191.975kN
- Each column: 4.5kN
- Wall: 1974.6kN
4.2 Live Load Calculation
Total Live Load: 129.36kN
4.3 Wind Load Calculation
Total Wind Load: 0.6*V^2
Effective area: 64.68m^2
5. Conclusion
This report's load calculations offer a comprehensive understanding of the dead, live, and wind loads that apply to the proposed residential structure. Maintaining the building's safety and structural integrity depends on these loads being computed correctly.
