Simulation of plates with hole
Aim: Perform a static analysis on two models of the plate with holes
Modeling:
We have the dimensions of the plates with holes
- for case 1 :Length=300mm,Height=120mm,Thickness=30mm,Circular Hole at the center,Diameter=60mm
- for case 2: Length=300mm, Height=120mm, Thickness=30mm, Circular Hole at the center, Diameter=60mm, and Two holes of 30 mm diameter which are placed 90mm away from the central hole on both sides.
Simulation:
- Select the static analysis study
- apply the default material which is alloy steel
- Fix one of the small faces and apply the tensile load of 1000N on another one
Fixed face
Tensile loading of 1000N:
- Mesh the part to the finest to get more accurate results
- Run the simulation
Results:
- case 1
- Case 2
Conclusion:
From the study, we can say that the stress concentration near the holes increases since cross-sectional area decreases causing the decreases in the resistance and therefore overall displacement also increases
