Section Modulus calculation and optimization
Use the Section from your Hood design and calculate the Section Modulus using the formula
S = I/y
Where,
S = Section Modulus
I = Moment of Inertia
y = distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object
Come up with a new section with an improved Section Modulus compared to the previous one and mention what changes you made that resulted in the increased strength.

It is a way of quantifying a cross-section of a given geometry. It is directly proportional to the area moment of inertia of the cross-section. Higher the section modulus, the more the moment of inertia, the more stiffness, and thus more resistance to deformation and bending. Section modulus can also be improved by varying the geometry of the cross-section. In other words, stiffness can be enhanced by just improving the geometry without the need for adding extra material.
For calculating the section modulus we have to calculate the value of ( I ) which is the area of moment inertia of the body and ( Y ) which is the distance between the neutral fiber and the extreme point distance of the body.
The value of the section modulus tells the strength, rigidity, and stiffness of the body
The more the value of the Section modulus the more the strength of the body, for calculating this we have to increase the value of the area moment of the body.
In this challenge, we have compared the section modulus values of two different section modulus of the same body.
1. First section of Hood assembly

2. Section second

Section-1
L=8879 mm Total Length of the body from extreme endpoint to another extreme endpoint.
Y= Distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object
Y=L/2
Y=8879/2
Y=4439.5 mm
MOI ( Min)=1.56018*10^5 mm^4
Section Modulus=I/Y
Section Modulus=1.56018*10^5/4439.5
Section modulus=35.14 mm^3
Section-2
I have to change the position and shape of some embosses so that we can analyze what will happen to the section modulus if we increase the value of the area moment of the body.
L=8879 mm Total Length of the body from extreme endpoint to another extreme endpoint.
Y= Distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object
Y=L/2
Y=8879/2
Y=4439.5 mm
MOI ( Min)= 1.63140^5mm^4
Section Modulus=I/Y
Section Modulus=1.63140*10^5/4439.5
Section modulus= 36.74mm^3
Conclusion
As per the above analysis as we increase the distance between the inner and outer panels Moment of inertia will increase and simultaneously section Modulus will increase.
