Section Modulus calculation and optimization
For Hood Design :-
Section Modulus :-
Section Modulus is the ratio of bending to the farthest fiber from neutral axis or it is the measure of the strength of the beam. Ratio of area moment of inertia to the distance from the neutral axis to the point where the bending normal stress is determined.
Section Modulus (S) = I/Y
I = Moment of inertia of structure
Y = Distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object.
Case 1 :-

Maximum Moment of inertia = 8.921751569e + 07 [mm^4]
Minimum Moment of inertia = 2.671386826e + 05 [mm^4]
Total distance of the hood Y = 876.3771 mm
Distance between the neutral axis to the extreme end = y/2
= 876.3771/2
= 438.1885 mm
Section Modulus hood section,
S = I/Y
(i)= 8.92175x10^7/438.1885
= 203.6052x10^3 mm
(ii) = 2.67138x10^5/438.1885
= 609.6417 mm
Case 2 :-

In order increase the resistance to bending of hood we have to make improvement in section modulus.
Maximum Moment of inertia = 3.011081771e + 03 [mm^4]
Minimum Moment of inertia = 9.014625570e + 05 [mm^4]
Total distance of the hood Y = 876.3771 mm
Distance between the neutral axis to the extreme end = y/2
= 876.3771/2
= 438.1885 mm
Section Modulus hood section,
S = I/Y
(i) = 3.01108x10^3/438.1885
= 6.87165 mm
(ii) = 9.01462x10^5/438.1885
= 2.0572x10^3 mm
It will be also made an improvement in resistance to bending of my hood design.
Conclusion :-
The strength of the material directly proportional to moment of inertia it increase sectional area there is increase overall mass of an object have increase in strength.
