Section Modulus calculation and optimization

FORMULA :

S=I/Y

S= Section modulus

I=Moment of inertia

Y=Distance between the neutral axis and end of the body

SECTION MODULUS

The gemontric properties used in design include area for tension and shear radius of gyration for comperssion and moment of inertia and polar inertia for stiffness

They are two types of section modulus :

  • Elastic section modulus
  • Plastic section modulus

ALREADY CALCULATED

S=I/Y

S=2550000/430.17

=4707.44 mm^3

yeild moment

M=S*σy

=4707.44*520

=2.4e^6 N/MM

FOR ME REFER MY CHANGE

S=I/Y

=2550000/472.60

=5395.63mm^3

yeild point

M=S*σy

=5395.63*520

=2.80e^6 N/mm

increase with 3mm both of inner panel and outerpanel of the hood assembly we got the higher valie of section modulus hence strength also increased
