Section Modulus calculation and optimization

SECTION MODULUS:

* Section modulus is ratio of total moment assisted by its section to the in the extreme fibre.

In detail: It is method to find about how much load can be withstand by that particualar structure or part. And we can know that if the section modulus increases the more amount of load can be withstanded. hence it is load bearing capacity.

Formula: S = I/y

S = Section Modulus

I = Moment of Inertia

y = distance between the neutral axis and the extreme end of the object.

S=I/Y

1.808/239.216

=0.00755m4

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To increase the section modulus (strength) need to increasing the distance between outer panel and inner panel.

here i have increased the distance between outer and inner distance for 1mm.

S=I/Y

2.109/239.216

=0.00881m4
