ROOF DEISGN

To design and develop the roof of a car with its components by following the master section and the design parameters

ROOF INTRO

A automobile roof is te portion of an automobile that sits above thw passenger compartment , protecccting the vehicle occupants from sun,wind, rain, and other external elements. under the styling surface that is seen on the outside,there are many other structures under the roof which contribute to its strength and stability.The roof of the car is made up of multiple parts that provide support and strengh to the roof component.

ROOF PARTS:

  • Front roof rail
  • Bow roof rail
  • Center roof rail
  • Rear roof rail

Predicion Formula :

W=(1.73 x10^(-3)xL)+(1.85x10^(-8)x(R^2)/t+(1.10x10^(-3)x1)-2.68

FRONT ROOF RAIL:

Front roof rails are used in the assemly of a roof in which it provide mounting provisions to windshield glasses and . Its designed with support requirements, visibility criteria , and headroom space in mind. The major design factor considerd is the headroom clearence

BOW ROOF RAIL :

The bow roof rails provide additional support to the roof and they are positioned in such a way that they provide maximum support to the roof.Small car may have none while large ones may have none 3 or more,they may also be integrated into the center roof rail in some case.

CENTER ROOF RAIL:

The reinforcement center is used as a croos member between body side LH & RH respectively. similar to take into consideratiion the headroom clearance and the visibility criteria while designing the center roof rail and bow roof rails.

REAR ROOF RAIL:

It is the support which is joined to the Back Door and Body Side Outer and the inner panels. It is also useally made from Body Side Outer scrap and therefore the thickness of the rail is 0.75mm.
