Reinforcement Detailing of Beams from ETABS output
• Provide reasons for failure of the middle span along grid A. What are the possible ways this issue can be resolved?
1- It may occur due to insufficient knowledge of the resistance between reinforced steel rods and concrete columns.
2- It may occur due to the wrong interpretation of the data made available to the design engineer.
3- It may also take place due to insufficient strength of the concrete used for the structure.
ways to solve this issue is
The flexural strength of a beam is directly proportional to its section modulus. So by increasing the section modulus ( Z) the flexural strength can be increased and failure can be avoided. So by using deeper sections and/ or by using shorter spans, flexural failure can be avoided.
