Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

  1. Radar Mast

Objective :

To design surface models of different parts of sunseeker predator yacht using Solidworks 2016

To assemble different parts of the model yacht.

Parts to be modeled for yacht,

A yacht is a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing. There is no standard definition, so the term applies here to such vessels that have a cabin with amenities that accommodate overnight use. To be termed a yacht, as opposed to a boat, such a pleasure vessel is likely to be at least 33 feet (10 m) in length and have been judged to have good aesthetic qualities.

DESCRIPTION:

1.In this Yacht Modelling,All the parts are drawn with the help of details given in the pdf using the Solidworks software.

2.Initially,the Blueprint Setup is done with different views like the Front, Side, Bottom, Back and Top view which is used as the base for creating the other parts.

  1. The main operations that are used for creating the parts are Trim, pattern, Projected, chamfer, fillet, Mirror, Intersection curve, Extrude, Revolve etc.

4.Each part is given with its own appearance and finally the different parts are arranged to get the assembly of yacht modeling.

The different parts are:

Hull: A Hull is the Watertight body of a Ship or boat. The hull may open at the top, or it may be fully or partially covered with a deck. Atop the deck may be a deckhouse and other Superstructures, such as a funnel, derrick, or mast. The line where the hull meets the water surface is called the waterline.

Superstructure: A superstructure is an extended construction of any building or platform that rises above the rest of the building or platform in a distinct manner. They are designed in a manner, so that, they add value and hinder the speed and mobility in the least. The superstructure is mostly designed in fashion as well.

Front Seat: This is the Front Seat of the yacht which is located in the front side of the hull before the Superstructure portion.

Center Seat: it’s situated at the back of the super structure for the purpose to provide the seating for the multiple persons. The table is in the rectangular shape surrounding three sides with the cushions. Its ergonomically designed to provide seating for the multiple members and at the same time the 4th side will serve as the serving space.

The commands used were

  • Boss extrude
  • Cut extrude
  • Fillet
  • chamfer
  • Rear seat

Its situated back at the edge of the second edge of the hull and extreme to the superstructure surface. Its also provides spacing to the passengers and gives an extreme view of the ocean or sea.

Its also has the gates to restrict the children entry into the below the deck surface

    The commands used were

    • Offset surface
    • Surface loft
    • Surface trim
    • Surface knitting
    • Cut extrude
    • Boss extrude
    • Sweep
    Mirror
  • Garage Door: The Garage door is fixed at the Back side of the yacht modeling where it is used to cover the cars or bikes that is inside the garage. It is movable at one side, so that the vehicle inside can come out.

  • Propeller:

A propeller is usually designed with two to five blades (though sometimes more). In the first instance, the number of blades is decided by the weight of the vessel: the greater the weight, the greater the blade area required to push it through the water with a minimum of slip and cavitation.

  • To specify the correct type and size of propeller, a standard set of boat, engine and gearbox measurements is required

Radar Mast: Radar antenna waves move at the speed of light. The time between transmitting and receiving the waves is generally so short that your radar antenna only moves a minimal distance between waves.

  • Radar: Marine radars are X band or S band radars on ships, used to detect other ships and land obstacles, to provide bearing and distance for collision avoidance and navigation at sea. They are electronic navigation instruments that use a rotating antenna to sweep a narrow beam of microwaves around the water surface surrounding the ship to the horizon, detecting targets by microwaves reflected from them, generating a picture of the ship's surroundings on a display Screen
