Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht

SURFACE MODELLING OF AMERICAN PREDATOR YACHT

OBJECTVE

The objective of this project is design and model all the parts of an American Predator Yacht and assembling it and create the photo realistic rendering of yacht Project

INTRODUCTION

In this project will learn the entire yacht modelling tutorial about Solid Works and visualize Solid Works.

The different components of the yacht we deal with are:

  1. Propeller
  2. Radar
  3. Blueprint setup
  4. Hull
  5. Garage door
  6. Front seat
  7. Middle seat
  8. Rear seat
  9. Superstructure
  10. Radarmast

Design approach:

Let we start with propeller and end with rendering as shown in

below flow chart.

1.PROPELLER:

A propellor could be a device with a rotating hub and radiating blades that are set at a pitch to make a helical spiral, that, once rotated, exerts linear thrust upon a operating fluid, corresponding to water or air. Propellers are wont to pump fluid through a pipe or duct, or to make thrust to propel a ship through water or an aircraft through air. The blades are specially formed in order that their movement motion through the fluid causes a pressure distinction between the two surfaces of the blade by Bernoulli' principle that exerts force on the fluid. Most marine propellers are screw propellers with whorled blades rotating on a propeller shaft with an approximately horizontal axis.

In this modelling a lot of features are used shown in below.

  • REVOLVE

To create a revolve feature: Create a sketch that contains one or more profiles and a centre line, line, or edge to use as the axis around which the feature revolves. Click one of the following revolve tools: Revolved Boss/Base (Features toolbar) or Insert > Boss/Base > Revolve.

  • LOFT

Can use the Loft feature in SOLIDWORKS to generate complex geometry in a single operation. It does this by interpolating surfaces between different cross-sections of a model. These cross-sections can be sketches, surfaces, or edges. In the transition interface, these cross-sections are referred to as "loft  profiles".

  • FILLET

Fillet/Round creates a rounded internal or external face on the part. You can fillet all edges of a face, selected sets of faces, selected edges, or edge loops.

  • CUT EXTRUDE:

To create an extruded cut:

1) Sketch the profile for cut.

 2) Click Extruded Cut on the Features toolbar or select Insert, Cut, Extrude on the menu bar.

 3) Under Direction 1, do the following: · Select an End Condition. Examine the preview and if necessary, click Reverse Direction to extrude in the opposite direction.

  • CIRCULAR PATTERN:

To create a circular pattern:

  • Create one or more features to replicate.
  • Click Circular Pattern (Features toolbar) or Insert > Pattern/Mirror > Circular Pattern.
  • Set the Property Manager options.
  • Click ok

MODELLING OF PEOPELLER:

2.RADAR:

It does this by detecting other ships and land obstacles, to provide bearing and distance to avoid collisions and navigate the water. A marine radar serves as an important navigation aid for boaters. Helps detect boats, birds, land and weather systems even if visibility is below normal.

In this modelling boss/base extrude, cut extrude, fillet, mirror, sketch pattern, split line etc.

  • Boss extrude:

Extrude Property Manager

  • Create a sketch.
  • Click one of the extrude tools: Extruded Boss/Base. on the Features toolbar, or click Insert > Boss/Base > Extrude. Extruded Cut. on the Features toolbar, or click Insert > Cut > Extrude. Extruded Surface. on the Surfaces toolbar, or click Insert > Surface > Extrude
  • Mirror:

To mirror a feature: Do one of the following: In a part, click Mirror (Features toolbar) or Insert > Pattern/Mirror > Mirror. In an assembly, click Assembly Features (Assembly tab on the Command Manager) and click Mirror or click Insert > Assembly Feature > Mirror.

  • Sketch driven pattern:

Solid works Pattern a Sketch

To build a sketch driven pattern:

  • Open a sketch on the face of a part.
  • Create a seed feature on the model.
  • Click Point or Tools > Sketch Entity > Point, and add multiple sketch points to represent the pattern you want to create, based on the seed feature.
  • Close the sketch.

3.Blueprints setup:

How to setting up blueprints in solid Works?

  1. So, Let's Start the tutorial with New Part.
  2. start a sketch on the front plane by right click in the front plane Nd click sketch's icon.
  3. click in TOOLS after that click in Sketch Tools and after that

     click in sketch Picture.

4.HULL:

The hull of a ship is the ship's most visible structural element. To define the hull, it is the ship's waterproof enclosure that protects the ship's cargo, machinery, and accommodation spaces from the elements, flooding, and structural damage.

project curve:

To project a curve: Click Project Curve on the Curves toolbar, or Insert > Curve > Projected. Use this selection to project a sketched curve onto a model face. Under Sketch to Project, select the curve in the graphics area or from the flyout Feature Manager design tree. Tools & Features used:

10.ASSEMBLY

An assembly means in which parts, features, and other assemblies are mated together. Assembly commands are Smart mate, Insert Components, sub assembly.

Assembly procedure are import all the parts manually by using insert components option. Then fix the hull part by applying the coincident mate to the top, right and front plane of the assembly. Then for each part apply the necessary mate required by the blueprint using coincident mate, angle mate, distance mate.
