Radar Mast & Final Assembly of Yacht
OBJECTIVE
- The main aim of this project is to create a surface model of different yacht parts.
- To assemble the parts created using the Solidworks2020 software.
- To create a photorealistic model of the yacht and render the model using the SolidWorks visualize.
INTRODUCTION:
In this project we are going to learn the entire modeling of a Sunseeker Predator Yacht on solid works and solid works visualize.
The different components of the Sunseeker Yacht we will be dealing with are:
- Propeller
- Radar
- Hull
- Garage Door
- Front Seat
- Middle Seat
- Rear Seat
- Superstructure
- Radar Mast
After designing the components part by part , we have worked upon the assembly and the Photo view 360 rendering of the Yacht which gives it a complete and realistic view.
DESIGN APPROACH:
Starting with the Propeller and ending till the rendering section has been described step by step by means of a flow chart.

Now we will discuss what are the features and properties used in the entire model to design different parts:
- Extrude Boss: The Extruded Boss is one of the most basic of all SOLIDWORKS features and extrudes a sketch along a straight-line path to add material. A proper sketch is required before applying the Boss extrude feature hence it is important that we select the closed sketch properly , after that when we apply the Boss extrude from the features tab a feature box pops out which requires several parameters on how much distance do we want to extrude the surface and whether is on both sides , or through all or up to a surface or maybe apply an offset distance as well , various properties are available including the draft feature as well .

- Fillet: Fillets are classified as applied features, which means they do not require a sketch as such , a solid body is enough for applying rounded edges to it . And this feature can be applied separately with different radius value . Furthermore several other features are available as well included with this which are rounded edge fillet , face fillet etc.

- Revolved Boss Feature: Adds material by revolving a sketch around an axis. For using this feature it is important that we develop a closed sketch and an axis around which it can revolve . It is important that the distance between the axis and the solid sketch to be revolved has a feasible enough. There are additional features of revolving up to a certain extent and not full 360 degrees in nature . Along with this we can flip the revolve feature as well.

- Extrude Cut: Similar to the extrude boss feature this feature needs a sketch which will be used to cut off a certain segment in a straight direction . Similar to the features of extrude Boss we can cut through all or up to a certain distance in the solid body.

- Shell: SolidWorks shell tool is mainly used for shelling process, in which a closed solid body is converted into a hollow closed or open body depending on the sketch and a small thickness is kept using the shell feature .

- Sweep Boss / Sweep Cut: Sweep creates a base, boss, cut, or surface by Selecting a closed sketch and moving it along a curved path to generate a profile . It is necessary that the base is closed surface and the profile may be closed or open in nature . In case of sweep cut its is similar to extrude cut but in this case it is important that the curved path along which the profile cut will be generated is well defined.

- Surface Loft: The loft feature is an important tool for (surface) modelling in Solid Unlike extrude boss the loft boss can extrude any surface in a complex profile rather than in a straight direction . It uses a combination of curved profiles and guided curves to form cool and dynamic surfaces which cannot be developed by extrude boss.

- Linear Pattern: Wecan use linear patterns to create multiple instances of one or more features that we can space uniformly along one or two linear paths. Pattern formed by linear pattern feature can have different orientation and direction but it will always be in a straight direction and not in curved nature .

- Mirror: Creates a copy of the features we want to mirror about a plane or a face . In case of mirror features , the specific features are mirrored about the plane and the surfaces of a single body or multi body .In case of Bodies to be mirrored we do not require to select the features separately , it will automatically get featured on the other side without any discrepancies . For allowing specific features to be mirrored we have to deselect the ones we do not require and allow the ones we require .

- Surface Trim - Surface Trim is primarily used to cut away material from a surface and provides two modes: standard and mutual .

- Surface extend-It is used to extend the surface which is already created . There are different options available on the extended surface. We can extend the surface as the same surface or we can extend the surface tangent to the surface.

- Surface Knit- It is used to knit two free edges / open edges of the surfaces together. Also , It reduces the gap between the two edges of the surface .

- Reference Geometry: Reference geometry defines the shape or form of a surface or a solid. Reference geometry includes several types of geometry which includes planes , axes , coordinate system and points. The major advantage is that we can create planes anywhere necessary which further helps to make sketches at places which are complicated to reach and hence make extrude bosses or sweeps. For example:-
- Planes are used in lofts and sweeps.
- An axis is used in a circular pattern.

- Projected Curve: This feature helps in developing complex curves which cannot be created on sketch as a 2D variant . Projected curves produces the intersection of two curve surfaces in a 3D space and we can create extrude sweep or boss out of it to develop curved surfaces and protrusion out of it. Note: the Projected Curve tool does not support projections of intersecting curves.

Mate : Mates create geometric relationships between assembly components. As we add mates,we allow definable movements for the assembly parts , the parts can be rotated or moved along certain axis . Mates is an extremely important feature for assembly of parts into a single body. Furthermore we have relation properties like co-planar , concentric, tangent, coaxial etc .
- A coincident mate forces two planar faces to become co- The faces can move along one another but cannot be pulled apart.
- A concentric mate forces two cylindrical faces to become concentric. The faces can move along the common axis but cannot be moved away from this axis.
Mates are solved together as a system. The order in which you add mates does not matter; all mates are solved at the same time. You can suppress mates just as you can suppress features.

Now as we have completed discussion of how the features work under solid works let us see the application of the features in the Sunseeker that we have built. We are going to discuss part by part as shown in the flowchart.

Assembly: The assembly here is very simple in nature as the planes of the hull, superstructure, front seat and middle seat are automatically fixing itself , hence we do not have to apply any additional mates . As far as the back seat although the planes are coincident but we have to apply a distance mate so as to fix the rear seat at the correct position. Fpr the garage door we will have to apply coincident relation of the door middle plane with the middle plane of the hull and then apply the concentric relation between the hinges in the hull and the cavity in the garage door so that it gets fixed properly . At last we insert the propellers and a radar and apply concentric relation with their respective position in the whole yacht.

Rendering: The last advance of the Sunseeker Predator Yacht to make it look reasonable as we have as of now talk about the employments of delivering a model here we attempt to make it look however practical as it might have been conceivable we gotten going with checking the appearance added on every one of the parts then we to make it look more beautiful we add a few decals on the back bumper and the substance of the oil tank, presently we attempt to make it more sensible by giving it a camera see setting the ideal lights and the central distance making the point of the view and saving the camera point which gave a sensible view to the chopper. Presently we take our get together document into strong works imagine where we begin making the item increasingly more practical with adding the foundation changing the and changing the brilliance, shadow thickness and gamma levels as indicated by the various necessities of the various foundations changing the shade of the model and checking what suits the best with which foundation until we get the ideal and shocking item prepared.

CONCLUSION
At the end of the full project I have gained enough knowledge to operate SolidWorks software efficiently and hence create a complex solid model like the above Sunseeker Yacht. The most important aspect of the whole project is the provision of discipline , dedication and the amount of detailed work necessary for the model. Along with it I understood the certain concept of properties like surface knit , surface loft etc and I have developed the understanding of where we should apply these and where we should not ,At the end the features of SolidWorks Visualize helped me to provide a realistic view to the Yacht and hence make it look professional enough .
