Project - Speed Control of a Direct Current (DC) motor

Response sheet of a given project:-

Mathematical modeling of dc motor

DC motor contains two circuits namely field circuit and armature circuit requires for motoring action. The main objective is to control the speed of the dc motor by using a PID controller where armature circuit voltage is controlled for maintaining the desired speed by controller action but at the same time field circuit should be kept constant voltage for reference purposes.

Transfer equation T(s)=w(s)/V(s)=kt.km/[(sla+ra)*(sj+b)+(kt*km)]

This mathematical model makes in-state space analysis:-

x_dot=Ax+Bu

y_dot=Cx+Du

By using the pole placement method to find out the value of proportional gain 'k(1)' and derivative gain 'k(2)'=9.654 which is insufficient so k(2) value increases to '900' , the Integral gain 'k'=4500.

Simulation file:-project_dc_motor_model.slx, Script file:-project_dc_armature_pid.m and corresponding data file;-project.mat,

Output:-project_dc_motor.png

we have used A,B, and roots of polynomial equations 'root' for pole placement and from signal builder block to set reference speed raise from (0-200)radian/sec takes 2 second time.
