Project on Concrete Mix Design for various grades of Concrete

Environment Exposure Condition : Severe, Cement: OPC-43 Grade, Max Aggregate size Zone 2: 20mm, min Cement : 320 kg/m3, W/C ratio - 0.4, Workability : 100mm (Pumpable) Specific Gravity of Cement: 3.25, Super Plastizer added

1)Target Mean Strength: f'ck=fck+1.65s= 35+(1.65x5)=43.25 N/mm2

2)Selection of Water Content for Slump 100mm from table 2 of IS 10262:2009 : 186+(6/100x 186)=197.16 lit

3)Super plastizer reduces water by 29% = 0.71x197.16= 140 lit

4)Calculation of cement content = W/C =0.4 = 140/0.4=350 kg/m3>320 kg/m3

5) Cementitious material can be increased by 10%= 350x 1.1= 385kg/m for Fly ash addition

6) fly ash 30mentitious = 30x 385/100= 115.5 kg/m3

7) Cement content = 385-115.5= 269.5 kg/m3

8)Proportion of C.A & F.A = Table of IS 10262:2009

As w/c ratio lower by 0.1 the proportion of volumne of C.A is increased by 0.02= 0.62+0.02=0.64

9)Pumpable concrete reduced by 10% therefore volume of C.A = 0.64x0.9=0.576,

volume of  Fine Aggregate=1-0.576=0.424
