Project - Analysis of a practical automotive wiring circuit

1.

  • Battery
  • Starter motor
  • Ammeter
  • Breaker
  • Fuse
  • Generator
  • Ignition coil
  • Distributor

2.

  • BATTERY:    Battery is a collection of cells.It stores the elctrical energy into chemical energy and it supplies to the circuit when required.A battery supplies only the DC voltage.the battery is classified into:Primary (not rechargeable) and Secondary(rechargeable).
  • STARTER MOTOR:   Starter motor is a motor which converts the electrical energy into mechanical energy. It is used for starting the engine by rotating the flywheel.The rotor of the starter motor has teeth on its end and it will meshes with the teeths at the periphery of the flywheel and rotates the flywheel at high rpm.
  • FUSE:   A fuse is an electrical safety device that operates to provide overcurrent protection of an electrical circuit.It consists of a metal wire or a strip that melts when too much current flows through it,thereby stopping or interrupting the current.

3.  For a 10A from battery, we choose the fuse rating of 135% of the current value.

        Therefore,the fuse rating is 10*135% =13.5amps.Then we choose the next higher standard          value,ie.,15amps.

4. Given ,

      Power= 500W

      Battery voltage=12V(from hint)

       P=V * I

       I= P/V  =  500/12

                I = 41.66 Ah

5.  Current and voltage regulator

6. Battery and starter motor are connected in series.
